This week: HEMP!
Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap CEO David Bronner recently was arrested after protesting the continued ban on commercial hemp cultivation in the U.S. Many U.S.-produced products contain hemp-sourced ingredients that have had to be imported because of the ban, including the hemp oil used in Dr. Bronner’s products. (Yes! Lucky Star Market carries Dr. Bronner’s products! But this is secondary at the moment).
Check out some basics about hemp, hemp plastic, and more discussion of its usefulness and why it’s not allowed here. Interestingly, the ban was an economic decision. It seems to make sense to revisit regulations, at least in the interest of economics and environmental health.
