MOVING SALE!!!!

Human-powered-move

Yep, I know I announced an inventory sale previously, but there was a reason! Back Alley Bikes and True Blue Wrench Works kind of already announced it for me, but here’s the official:

LUCKY STAR MARKET IS MOVING!!!!!!! …announcement.

It’s been a great year+ here on North Graham St., but just a couple of blocks away at 100 Boyd St. in Carrboro will be even better! Very soon, we’ll be combining forces and landing at the old Nice Price Books building. We’re fortunate and stoked! But your help would be appreciated!

Making a light-load move to the new location will sweeten the process, so EVERYTHING AT LUCKY STAR IS NOW ON CLEARANCE!!!!

Snacks, drinks, beer, groceries, cycling apparel and accessories, healthy household goods & personal care items, LunaPops popsicles…EVERYTHING!!!!!

Since we’re also changing the shape & size of the store, shelving is also available, so come check it out & take it away!

The goal is to clear out by Sunday night!!!! Let’s make it happen! 🙂

Stocking Stuffers (Day 2…stockings!)

Who says a stocking has to be an actual…stocking? Why bother with an extra accessory that only comes out of storage every December? Instead, you can give someone a “stocking” they can use all year, full of awesome useful stuff and consumables from right here at Lucky Star!

Messenger bags, backpacks, panniers, fanny-packs, and seat-post packs in many sizes, from Mission Workshop, Civia/Ortlieb, Chrome, Bailey Works, Jandd, Timbuktu, etc. Some new, some gently used, and plenty of time to make special orders!

Stocking Stuffers! (Day 1)

IMG_0794[1]Stocking-giving begins sooner than you might think, and we’ve got you covered! Not one to over-exert, Channuklaus begins an 8-night tour this Saturday evening, Dec. 8th, and ends the evening of Sunday, Dec. 16th. Thoughtfully, this leaves a polite 8 days for Santa Claus to get his s%!t together by Christmas Eve! If you’re an accomplice or a body double for either or both of these guys, Lucky Star’s got a lllllot of cool small stuff for gifts and/or stockings!

For example, you can fit a super variety of weird snack food in there! Got in mind an athlete, a health-nut or someone who’d honestly rather have good stuff to eat than just stuff? Gluten-free, sugar-free, nuts or no nuts, chocolate, coconut, natural, foreign, local, Kosher, vegan, and so on…Come on already! Get over here!

From Shiner, one of our seasonal winter brews!

Enjoy it here at the market or take it away!

“Happy Holidays from the “Little Brewery” in Shiner, TX. We hope you enjoy your Shiner Cheer, an Old World Dunkelweizen brewed with Texas peaches and roasted pecans. The malty flavors of this dark wheat ale are enhanced through the use of malted barley and wheat. For $5, A New Carrrrrr!!!!!! Raffle Starts Today!

Well…new to you!!!

***$5 per raffle ticket!!!! Drawing DECEMBER 15th!!!!!!***

Up for raffle here at Lucky Star Market is not either of these two DeLoreans we recently saw headed west on I-40 to a Wilkesboro vintage car show. But for as little as $5, you have a chance to win a pretty sweet, still-drivable, white 1992 Toyota Corolla named “Trick-Trick,” who has a lot of interesting history and a lot of potential!

Coinciding with our bike-in movie night tonight, we’re kicking off the final push to close the remaining tuition gap for our Send-A-Kid-To-Sea fundraiser! Come check out a couple of cool bike movies, drink a beer or a soda, eat some snacks, and FOR JUST 5 BUCKS casually enter yourself in the running for a new car!!!! (Of course, you can get yourself raffle tickets any time between now and the December 15th drawing, but tonight will be more fun)!

This Toyota has been in the family since 1994, and it’s been on many adventures. It’s even been occasionally and/or regularly driven by not one, but two real bike messengers! Huzzah!!!

Now’s your chance to become Trick-Trick’s new pilot!
Starting today, November 1st, you can buy as many raffle tickets as you wish, and try your hand at becoming the proud new owner of either a hassle-free tax-declarable donation or a great car that could be fixed up pretty nicely. Excellent gas mileage, no computers, and easy DIY changing of oil and filters!

A handful of early-bird tickets have already been sold, but there are plenty on hand!

If you are long-distance but interested, an online option is available! Simply click on the PayPal Donate button on this page, and once your transaction is completed, email h.ragan@yahoo.com with an address where we can email your raffle ticket numbers to you! (We can also mail to you the actual raffle tickets if you’d like!)

Drawing will be on Saturday, December 15th, coupled with another bike-in movie night!

(Stay tuned for how “Trick-Trick” got its name, and other interesting tales!)

Bike-In Movie Night!

FREE COFFEE for Send-A-Kid-To-Sea! (+Sunday Fund-Days @ Lucky Star!)

Ever had a really big dream? A really, really big one that could change your life in incredible ways? Here’s a dream come true (almost!): One of our Northside neighborhood students,  previously at Chapel Hill High School, has been accepted into the Canadian tall-ship program, Class Afloat, as a full-year student for the 2012-2013 school year!

With family, friends and community near and far, we have together helped NaaLamiley Kwakye raise about 83% of her tuition and fees, and she is now sailing aboard the Norwegian tall ship Sørlandet, a breathtaking 200ft. full-rigger built in 1927. She has worked really hard to get there, and we’re keeping the fires lit here on land to see that she reaches her final goal! With our continued support, she’ll spend the next 8 months immersed in traditional sail training, engaging in multiple multicultural explorations and volunteer service projects, and navigating an intensive academic 11th-grade school year!

With over 20 port calls along the way, she will sail the Mediterranean from Greece to Malta and France, then on to Portugal, Morocco and Senegal before crossing the Atlantic to Brazil! Later stops include tiny islands in the South Atlantic, South Africa, Namibia, the Caribbean and eventually a finish of the school year in southeastern Canada!

That is, if the remainder of Semester Two tuition is raised by us on her behalf!

With only about 45% of Semester Two tuition left to raise, we’re all pretty inspired on this end!

So far, with your help, this girl…

NaaLamiley Kwakye

is now on this ship!!!…let’s help her stay for the whole year!
